Crushing is to break the internal cohesive force and intermolecular forces through human strength and external mechanical force to achieve breaking and crushing. The process that split the small size of particles into fine powder is called grinding. Crushing is the common pre-treating technology in the solid wastes process technologies. The purpose is to make the above operation easier or more economic.
Why crushing becomes the necessary pre-treating process for the solid wastes?It has following features:
(1) Crushing reduce the clearance between solid wastes, and increase the unit weight.
(2) For burning, after crushing, the complex and uneven solid wastes become more mixture and uniform, the specific surface area is increased, which are helpful to get stable and high efficiency burning to recycle as much as possible of latent heat value.
(3) For compost, crushing can also improve the efficiency of composting. At the same time, because of the decrease of porosity, heat loss is less, which is more suitable for high temperature compost.
(4) The increased unit weight of wastes makes the storage and long distance transportation more economical and effective.
(5) Provide feed particles for sorting. Dissociate the associated mineral or the jointing mineral monomer to improve the useful composition recovery.
(6) The crushing can avoid the damage for the later equipment from large block and sharp materials.
