Inertial cone crusher is the main equipment in mining crushing, the taper sleeve material is also the key to determine the machine running, using efficiency and the sleeve wear degree. Traditional taper sleeve is made from bronze or Babbitt metal. During operation, the sleeve is often to be cracked or be worn badly, which not only influences the machine normal running, but also increases the repair costs. This paper will analyze the failure reason the taper sleeve from the following aspects:
1. The inner wall of eccentric sleeve receives uneven force in the axial direction, only 1/3 of the body receiving the force together with large impacting and squeezing force, which making the radial force more uneven. Under high impacting and squeezing force, Babbitt metal is easy to be crumpled or be squeeze out for its low compressive strength. When receiving impacting force, the eccentric sleeve is easy to crack and peel off. Its service life is only about one month, thus leading to stop the machine to repair, low utilization and high repair costs. Eccentric sleeve is the key parts of crusher, if we replace the new one, it inevitably brings lots of manpower and material resource consumption.
2. Taper sleeve crack is the most common form of failure, mainly shows the sleeve appears many irregular axial and radial crack, at the same time, the sleeve may be born. The main reason is that the bronze sleeve has low wear resistance, low mechanical strength and poor toughness, in addition, large load is the main reason to cause the sleeve crack and shorten the service life.
3. There are many reasons to cause sleeve crack, except the machine repair and operation, non-crushed material (called "iron passing") entering into the machine is also the main reason. Light iron passing lead the cone crusher stop, but heavy iron passing will cause the components, electric parts damaged. The impacting force that generated by iron passing is more serious.
According to the above analysis, high impacting force is the main reason to cause crack. Therefore, improving the material toughness is the key to enhance the service life.
