How it works:

A rotating bucket wheel lifts sand from a water-filled tank. As the wheel turns, sand is scooped up, washed by water jets, and then discharged. Fine particles and clay overflow with the water.

How it works:

A long, inclined tank contains a spiral screw. Material mixed with water enters at the lower end. Fine particles overflow the weir at the top, while coarse particles settle and are pushed upward by the screw to be discharged.

Spiral classifier is used for separating coarse from fine particles (e.g., sand from silt/clay), washing heavy, coarse ores or minerals, and dewatering dense materials.

How it works:

Very similar in shape to the spiral classifier, but with a different design inside. The screw has paddles or mixing blades that violently agitate the sand and water. This scrubs off tough clay coatings from each sand grain.
