  • Never start the crusher under load. Clear the crushing chamber first.
  • Check that the oil circulation system is working and oil temperature is normal (around 30–40?°C).
  • Ensure all guards and safety devices are in place.
  • Use a feeder or distributor to spread material evenly around the crushing head. Uneven feed causes uneven wear and vibration.
  • Do not feed oversized rocks that exceed the crusher’s design limit – they can jam or damage the main shaft.
  • Avoid feeding sticky or wet material that can clog the concave and mantle.
  • Oil pressure and temperature: High temperature means poor lubrication; low pressure indicates leaks or pump failure.
  • Current (amperage): Fluctuations suggest uneven feed or a blockage. Consistently high amps mean overload.
  • Crusher sound: A loud knocking or rattling noise often means loose manganese liners or broken parts. Stop immediately.

  • Check the discharge conveyor regularly. If material piles up under the crusher, it can cause packing and stall the machine.
  • Set the closed side setting (CSS) correctly – too tight will cause overloading, too loose gives poor product size.
  • Never stop the crusher with material inside the chamber. Run it empty before shutdown.
  • Let the oil system continue running for 10–15 minutes after stopping the main motor to cool down bearings.
  • Inspect concave and mantle wear. Replace liners before they crack.
  • Check head nut tightness – a loose nut can destroy the entire crusher.
  • Examine oil filters and change as needed. Contaminated oil is a common cause of bearing failure.
  • Lock out power before any maintenance or entering the crusher.
  • Use remote cameras or mirrors to view inside a running crusher – never look directly into the feed opening without protection.
  • Train operators on emergency stop procedures.
