Mobile Crushers
Mobile crushers are mounted on tracks or wheels, allowing them to move easily between job sites. Their main advantage is flexibility. They can be brought directly to the material, eliminating the need for hauling rocks over long distances. Setup is fast – usually hours instead of weeks – making them ideal for short-term projects, urban demolition, or sites with multiple working faces.
However, mobility comes with trade-offs. Mobile units typically have lower production capacity than stationary plants. They also consume more fuel and have higher maintenance costs due to their complex drive systems and compact design.
Fixed Crushers
Fixed crushers are permanently installed on a concrete foundation. Their biggest strength is high throughput. They can handle large volumes continuously, day after day, making them the first choice for long-term, high-capacity operations like large quarries or mines. Operating costs per ton are lower because they use electric power efficiently and require less maintenance than mobile counterparts.
The downside is rigidity. Fixed crushers take months to install and require significant civil works – foundations, feed systems, and discharge conveyors. Once built, they cannot be moved. All material must be hauled to the crusher, adding trucking and loader costs. This setup is only economical for deposits expected to last many years.
Choose a mobile crusher when you need agility, multiple site moves, or short project lifecycles. Choose a fixed crusher when production volume and long-term cost efficiency are the top priorities. The right choice depends entirely on your project scale, duration, and material location.
