Blockage (Choking): This occurs when material discharge is obstructed, often due to an overload or processing material that is too sticky or wet. It leads to stoppage and requires significant clean-up time.
Excessive Wear: The jaw plates (fixed and swing jaw) are subject to high compression and friction. Uneven wear can reduce the crushing efficiency and alter the output particle size.
Vibration and Misalignment: Loose foundation bolts or unbalanced flywheels can cause excessive machine vibration, leading to structural fatigue and component failure.
Overheating: Bearings may overheat due to insufficient lubrication, contaminated grease, or excessive tension on the drive belts.
Product Fineness Issues: When the jaw plates wear down, the discharge opening (Closed Side Setting) increases, resulting in coarser output than required.
Key Precautions:
Pre-Start Inspection: Always check that the jaw plates, side liners, and toggle plate of jaw crusher are properly secured and show no signs of cracking. Ensure all foreign materials (e.g., metal scraps) are removed from the crushing chamber.
Proper Lubrication: Maintain the correct level and quality of grease or oil in the bearings. Lubrication reduces friction and dissipates heat; however, over-greasing can be as damaging as under-greasing.
Feed Control: Ensure a consistent and evenly distributed feed to avoid uneven wear. The material should not exceed the specified maximum size, and the crushing chamber should never be filled above the jaw plate level.
Belt Tension: Monitor the V-belts for wear and proper tension. Loose belts cause slippage and power loss, while overly tight belts strain the bearings.
Regular CSS Monitoring: Check and adjust the Closed Side Setting regularly to maintain product quality and compensate for jaw plate wear.
