Proper maintenance keeps your vibrating screen running efficiently, prevents unexpected breakdowns, and extends its working life. This article introduces the maintenance of vibrating screen.

1. Weekly Maintenance (30–60 minutes)
Once a week, do a more thorough inspection.
Tighten all bolts
- Vibration loosens bolts faster than any other machine. Pay special attention to:
- Vibrator mounting bolts (most critical)
- Motor base bolts
- Spring retaining bolts
- Screen box connection bolts
- Feed and discharge chute bolts
Inspect the screen deck
- Look for holes, tears, or worn spots.
- If wire diameter has worn down by 30% or more, plan to replace the mesh soon.
- Check tension – loose mesh flaps, makes noise, and wears out quickly.
Clean the screen
- Remove material buildup from:
- Under the deck (where fines collect)
- Around the springs
- On the side plates
- Inside the discharge chute
Check amplitude (shake strength)
- Stick a piece of tape on the side plate. Draw a small circle.
- Run the screen for a few seconds, then stop.
- The circle becomes an oval – measure its width. That is your amplitude.
- For most mining screens, amplitude should be 6–10 mm.
- If it has dropped 20% from last month, inspect springs and eccentric weights.

2. Monthly Maintenance (1–2 hours)
Grease the bearings
- Vibrating screen bearings need clean, fresh grease.
- Grease type: Use high-quality lithium or polyurea grease with EP (extreme pressure) additives. Never mix different greases.
- How often: Add grease every 2 months (once a month in hot or dusty conditions). Completely change grease every 6 months.
Inspect springs thoroughly
- All springs should have the same height (no crushed or sagging ones).
- Check for cracks in rubber springs or broken coils in steel springs.
- Replace damaged springs in full sets (all springs on the same side together). Never replace just one spring.
Check feed box and chute liners
- Worn liners will eventually wear through the steel plate.
- Replace liners when thickness is below 30% of original.

3. Long-Term Maintenance (Every 6–12 months)
Replace bearings
- Even with perfect lubrication, bearings have a limited life.
- Heavy-duty mining: replace every 6–8 months.
- Medium duty (aggregates): replace every 12 months.
- Light duty: every 18–24 months.
Replace rubber springs
- Rubber ages even without visible cracks. Replace all rubber springs every 2–3 years.
Inspect and repair cracks
- Look for cracks on side plates and crossbeams.
- Small cracks: drill a 5 mm hole at the end of the crack, grind, then weld.
- Large cracks: call a professional – running with a large crack is dangerous.
Repaint and protect against rust
- In wet or chemical environments, rust eats through the screen box. Touch up paint chips immediately.
