A jaw crusher is a primary crushing machine used to break large rocks into smaller pieces. It has two jaws: a fixed jaw and a movable jaw. The movable jaw presses the material against the fixed jaw, crushing it until the pieces are small enough to fall out through the bottom opening (discharge opening). If your jaw crusher is running but no material is coming out, stop the feed immediately and check the following issues:

1. Blocked Crushing Cavity
Cause: Material is stuck at the bottom of the chamber, often due to wet, sticky feed or oversized rocks.
Fix: Clean the cavity. Reverse the belt direction or use a pry bar to dislodge the blockage (ensure the machine is locked out).
2. Worn or Broken Jaw Plates
Cause: Worn jaw plates cannot grip or crush material effectively, causing a bottleneck.
Fix: Inspect the fixed and movable jaw plates. Replace them if the teeth are worn down or if the plates are loose.
3. Discharge Opening Too Small
Cause: The closed side setting (CSS) is set too narrow for the material size.
Fix: Adjust the hydraulic or mechanical toggle system to widen the discharge opening.

4. Belt Slippage or Tension Issues
Cause: The V-belt driving the flywheel is slipping, reducing crushing force.
Fix: Tighten or replace worn belts to restore proper tension.
5. Broken Toggle Plate or Spring
Cause: The toggle plate (safety device) is broken, preventing the movable jaw from moving.
Fix: Inspect the toggle plate and tension spring. Replace the toggle plate if cracked or shattered.
